Ailish Maher is an Irish-Finnish dance artist based in Vaasa, Finland.

Ailish graduated from The Scottish School of Contemporary Dance in 2014. Her performance credits include Liz Roche Company, Lucia Kickham, Malviniemi Company, Plan B Dance, Janne Aspvik, Carina Ahlskog, Nathan Johnston Choreography, Raimund Hoghe and others. 

She has been a guest tutor at The Irish World Academy of Music & Dance in the University of Limerick (IRE) and has provided professional classes for organisations such as Dance Ireland, Dance Limerick and Regional Dance Centre of Ostrobothnia. Ailish has also taught workshops and been a speaker at events such as Healthier Dancer Days (2019) and at The European Dance Network Atelier: New Approaches to Dance Training (2018) at Dance Ireland. 

In 2020 Ailish received funding to research and develop her first choreographic work All This Silent Space from Regional Dance Center of Ostrobothnia and Svensk-Österbottniska Samfundet. The the piece premiered in the autumn of that year at Black Box Genesis in Vaasa.

In 2022 the work toured across various gallery and art spaces in the Ostrobothnian region. This tour was produced by Regional Dance Centre of Ostrobothnia. 

Her short film, A Ritual of Care, premiered 20.12.23 at Elokuvakeskus Botnia in Vaasa. It was also screened at Routa Company’s event Sulake Klubi in January 2024.

In her artistic work, Ailish is interested in exploring the sensitivities and qualities of feelings and observations that arise in connection with the body, movement and performance.
